About Laurie

Laurie first came to yoga after many years of working in the corporate world where long hours at computers and stress were normal parts of her day. After her first yoga class, she was hooked on the feeling of linking movement with breath. She began to cultivate a yogic lifestyle attending as many yoga classes as she could and immersing herself in the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, ultimately, completing a 500 Hour Yoga Teacher training with Baptiste Power of Yoga and becoming a member of Yoga Alliance.

Laurie embraces the notion that in order to care for others and maintain balance in our own lives, we need to begin with self-care. As an Advanced Relax and Renew trainer, Reiki Master, and Urban Zen Integrative Yoga Therapist, she is able to use the modalities of Restorative Yoga, Reiki, Breath Awareness and Aromatherapy to create a calm and nurturing environment as a means of reducing stress and to support the healing process. With a special interest in integrative therapy, healing, and pain management, Laurie received Reiki Master level status from the Wu Wei School of Reiki in Berkeley. She is also an Urban Zen Integrative Yoga Therapist combining the modalities of Restorative Yoga, Reiki, Breath Awareness, Nutrition and Essential Oils. Laurie has also studied NonViolent Communication and Experiential Anatomy. Her teachers and mentors include Rodney Yee, Richard Rosen, Sherri Baptiste, Richard Miller, and Judith Hanson Lasater. In addition to leading private and group sessions, her teaching practice currently includes staff and students at several public schools, outreach to cancer patients, and adults and children with disabilities.

Laurie loves helping people of all levels bring clarity and peace to their busy lifestyle, from those new to yoga to more experienced students who just need to take time to slow down, heal and relax.
